Mini Golf on Monroe St.

An immersive 9-hole pop-up mini golf installation in the heart of downtown Detroit— set to create a playful and interactive course that would not only provide entertainment but also contribute to the vibrant cultural landscape of the city.

  • In collaboration between Bedrock and Display Group, our teams worked to carefully design and install an immersive pop-up mini golf installation in the heart of downtown Detroit. The goal of this project was to create a playful and interactive 9-hole course that would not only provide entertainment but also contribute to the vibrant cultural landscape of the city.

The installation featured a range of innovative elements, including standing obstacles, colorful turf, interactive lighting, and captivating murals by local Detroit artists— all while immersed in the backdrop of the surrounding cityscape.

  • Immersive 9-Holes: The heart of the installation was a meticulously designed 9-hole mini golf course that offered a one-of-a-kind experience for visitors. Each hole was carefully crafted to provide a playful challenge, with unique obstacles and surprises at every turn. These features not only challenged players but also served as eye-catching landmarks and photo backdrops within the installation.

Interactive Lighting: To create an enchanting and visually captivating nighttime experience, the installation added interactive lighting. This included overhead color “wash” and neon trim on each hole.

Local Artistry: A central focus of the project was to celebrate and support the local Detroit arts community. The course featured stunning murals coordinated in collaboration with Library St Collective and created by talented Detroit artists, MARLOBRO and Tony Whlgn— transforming the surrounding area into an open-air gallery that reflected the city's rich cultural heritage.

Cityscape Integration: The installation seamlessly blended with the surrounding site + downtown landscape, offering breathtaking views of Detroit. This integration allowed visitors to connect with the urban environment while enjoying a unique and nostalgic activity.

  • The pop-up mini golf installation was a resounding success, exceeding our expectations in terms of engagement and community involvement. It quickly became a beloved attraction, drawing both locals and tourists alike to experience the playful and immersive environment. Beyond providing entertainment, the project also fostered a sense of community and pride in Detroit's artist scene.
